Trust Digital, McLean, Va., has announced new software and products that enables greater security on mobile devices. The company’s smart phone security software client meets the latest updates to the Defense Information Systems Agency’s Wireless Security Technical Implementation Guide for Windows Mobile Messaging Wireless Email Systems for the Department of Defense.
In addition to the software certification, the Apriva smart card reader was also certified for two-factor authentication on mobile devices. Trust Digital has integrated two smart card readers, Apriva and BAI, with its smart phone software client to provide two-factor authentication and smart card login to email and other IT services.
The smart card reader connects via an encrypted Bluetooth wireless connection with the smart phone. The authentication and authorization logic of the smart phone client interacts with the smart card to unlock the device when the user powers the smart phone on.
The smart card and reader are used for identification and authentication to DOD systems, and is required for FIPS-201 and HSPD-12 compliance. The addition of the Apriva smart card reader now enables agencies complying with security guidelines for Windows Mobile Messaging.
