HID Global announced two new products to be added to its multiCLASS product line, as the company looks to provide flexible and secure migration from the legacy mag stripe and 125 kHz technologies to higher security 13.56 MHz smart cards.
The new additions to the multiCLASS family include two keypad models – the RMK40, which offers mag stripe to iCLASS migration and the RMPK40 for migration from mag stripe and proximity cards to iCLASS, with little-to-no operational disruption.
The RMK40 and RMPK40 readers feature removable vertical mag stripe readers and 125 kHz support for familiar user interaction, thus reducing confusion during migration. After a site fully migrates from mag stripe cards, users can replace the mag stripe back plate with a standard contactless back plate for 13.56 MHz-only compatibility.
The reader supports ANSI/ISO 7811 mag stripe data conversion or pass-through configuration in combination with HID Prox and 13.56 MHz contactless access control technologies, including iCLASS credentials. HID Global will enhance its multiCLASS mag stripe reader line with non-keypad wall switch variants and FIPS 201 compliancy in July while offering promotional pricing on keypad products during the months of April, May and June.
Both models will be on display at the NACCU Annual Conference in Phoenix, Arizona, from April 18 through April 21.
