To provide an additional level of security for accessing and managing data center equipment, Raritan has released a smart card and common access card reader solution that can be used with a KVM (keyboard, video, mouse) switch. Its Paragon II KVM Smart Card Reader is compliant with HSPD-12 standards, but is not yet on GSA’s Approved Product List. However, its partner in the Paragon II development, SCM Microsystems, does have GSA-approved card readers.
